| In 1984, American Airlines established American Eagle as its regional airline affiliate. Headquartered in Dallas, TX, the American Eagle network is the largest regional airline system in the world connecting passengers to and from American flights at its hubs and other key cities. It operates 293 jet and turboprop aircraft with over 1,400 flights a day and serves 132 cities throughout the United States, Canada, The Bahamas and the Caribbean.
The American Eagle fleet consists of the ATR-72, SAAB 340B, CRJ-700, ERJ-145, ERJ-140, and ERJ-135. American Eagle pilots are assigned to one of seven bases:

Chicago O’Hare "Fly Quiet" Recognition Award for American Eagle
American Eagle Airlines is the winner of the first "Fly Quiet" Recognition Awards for category one airlines at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The award was given to American Eagle as the airline that contributed the most to achieving significant noise reductions during 2001.
Fortune One of "50 Best Companies For Minorities"
Fortune magazine named AMR one of the 50 "Best Companies for Blacks, Hispanics and Asians." American Airlines and American Eagle were the only commercial airlines to make Fortune's Top 50 list.
"Cacique Award"
For the third year in a row, American Eagle earned The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism's Cacique Award. This prestigious award is presented for achievement in tourism in the Bahamas or overseas. No other airline has won the Cacique more than once.
